Concert by the NZ Youth Symphonic Winds orchestra.
Entry by koha
New Zealand Youth Symphonic Winds is Aotearoa’s premier youth concert band and is an integral part of NZCBA’s National Bands Programme which aims to promote music-making across the country. Since it’s inception in 2012, NZYSW has been the national representative ensemble for young concert band players to develop their music skills and education, bringing together the best secondary school wind, brass, and percussion players in the ultimate show of musical engagement and collaboration.
NZYSW meet twice a year for a rehearsal/coaching intensive with tutoring and mentoring from some of Australasia’s leading music educators and performers. These intensives conclude with a concert showcase to present the culmination of our young musicians’ achievements. These events, along with the NZCBA National Festival, aim to foster an environment where young kiwis from all backgrounds and corners of the country can flourish, engage with other like-minded individuals, and gain exposure to top professionals in the music industry.
NZYSW is committed to being a diverse, safe, and inclusive space in which we encourage players to be themselves and engage with our core aims of enabling, developing, and empowering youth musical development in Aotearoa.
