Assembly Room Tunes: February - Aurum Trio

Assembly Room Tunes: February - Aurum Trio

The Aurum Trio, a flute, cello and harp trio based in Wellington.
Robert Ibell, a well-known New Zealand cellist, together with Michelle Velvin, an accomplished Wellington harpist, and Barbara Hill, a professional flautist from Berlin, Germany, present a programme of chamber music which has recently been enthusiastically received in various Wellington venues, as well as Palmerston North and Taupo. We are starting the 2025 season with the Waikanae Music Society as well as a South Island Tour.

Our programme includes works by Debussy, Ravel, Ibert and Bizet, together with music by Dohnanyi and Villa-Lobos, and a commissioned work by NZ composer Anthony Ritchie.
Some of these works are being performed in NZ for the first time in this trio combination, for example the Sonatine by Ravel, which is one of his most beautiful works, played here in an arrangement by Carlos Salzedo for flute, cello & harp. The other works are colourful and captivatingly appealing to audiences.
